Amazon India Creators Can Now Tag Products on YouTube and Pinterest — What Brands Selling There Should Check

Bright pastel card illustration: Amazon tags now reach YouTube and Pinterest in India

In October 2026 Amazon announced that eligible creators in India can tag Amazon products in their YouTube and Pinterest content and earn a commission on qualifying purchases made on Amazon.in. For a brand selling there, the practical change is that creators you already work with on those two platforms can now attach a shoppable Amazon link to what they publish — without you paying for it as a placement — so it is worth deciding in advance how that interacts with your paid deals.

What exactly did Amazon announce?

According to Amazon India's announcement and trade coverage of it, Amazon has joined YouTube's Shopping affiliate program in India. Eligible creators can tag Amazon products across Shorts, long-form videos and livestreams; when a viewer taps a tag, they can look at the product and complete the purchase on Amazon.in, and the creator earns a commission on qualifying purchases. To earn, a YouTube creator needs to be in both YouTube's shopping affiliate program and Amazon's Influencer Program. On Pinterest, eligible creators can tag Amazon products in Pins in the same way. Reports note this follows YouTube's earlier shopping integrations with Flipkart and Myntra in India.

What does this change for a brand selling on Amazon.in?

Three things shift. First, the commission is paid by Amazon's program rules, not by your creator contract — so a creator can earn on your product even if you never negotiated an affiliate rate. Second, it adds an Amazon-linked path next to whatever tracking you already set up (your own store links, codes, UTMs), which makes channel attribution harder to read if you do not separate them. Third, it can quietly change a creator's incentives: a creator paid a flat fee by you and also earning an Amazon commission on a rival product in the same video has two reasons to feature it.

How far can the announced numbers be trusted?

Amazon also said its Influencer Program in India has grown to over 200,000 creators, roughly double the previous year, that creators helped close to 40 million customers shop on Amazon.in this year, that about 70% of shoppers using its creator programs are from non-metro cities, and that earnings per creator rose 60% year over year. All of these are company-reported figures from the announcement itself; none were independently verified in the coverage we found. Treat them as direction-of-travel, not as a benchmark for what your own campaign will produce. One secondary report cited a different, larger purchase-growth figure that we could not trace to a primary source, so we have left it out.

What should you check before adding it to a creator plan?

  • Confirm the scope before you plan around it. This announcement is for eligible creators in India. Do not assume the same tags, commission mechanics or eligibility apply in other markets.
  • Ask each creator whether they are enrolled in both programs. Without YouTube's shopping affiliate program and Amazon's Influencer Program, the tags do not earn. A creator who says they will tag your product may simply not be eligible.
  • Write tag and link rules into the brief. Say whether Amazon tags are allowed, required or off-limits in the sponsored video, and whether rival products may be tagged in the same content.
  • Keep paid-deal pay and tag commission as separate lines. Example (hypothetical, not from Amazon's data): if a creator's fee is 100 and you expect an extra commission on top from Amazon, record the fee and the commission separately so you do not later credit one against the other.
  • Separate tracking. Keep your own codes or UTMs distinct from Amazon-tagged traffic so you can still tell which path produced a sale.
  • Keep disclosure intact. A shoppable tag does not replace the paid-partnership label on a sponsored video; check both platforms' rules for the content you commission.
  • Re-check before you commit budget. This is a new program announced by the platform owner; terms, rates and eligibility can change.

Knowing which creators actually move sales on Amazon.in before you brief them is what makes any of these rules worth writing — get started.
